DAILY LIFE CAPSULE: LIFE BAKERS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Apostle Sunday A. Adetunmbi

Friday 18th July 2025.

BIBLE READING
Matthew 5:11–12:- “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…”

Acts 5:40–42:- “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.”

I welcome you to our lesson Glory And Persecution.

It may seem contradictory: How can persecution and glory coexist?
Yet Scripture shows us that persecution is not the absence of glory—it’s a stage where glory shines brightest.
Jesus said:
You’re blessed when persecuted
There is reward in heaven
You should rejoice, not just endure
Persecution:
Tests your loyalty
Deepens your intimacy
Purifies your motives
Broadcasts your testimony
💡If you’re never persecuted, you might never provoke darkness with your light.
Persecution often comes when glory increases—because you become more visible, more fruitful, and more dangerous to darkness. It’s not a sign that God has left—it’s often the mark that you’re hosting Him well.
This doesn’t mean we seek persecution, but we don’t fear it. Because in it:
Christ stands with you (like with Stephen)
Glory surrounds you (like Paul & Silas)
Eternity honors you (like the saints in Revelation)

Biblical Examples

Stephen the Martyr – Acts 6:8–15; Acts 7:54–60:- Stephen, full of the Spirit, performed wonders and preached with power. But when he confronted the Sanhedrin with truth, they stoned him. As they attacked him, he looked up and saw the heavens opened—Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
Glory did not abandon him in death—it embraced him.
His face shone like an angel—glory was on full display as he crossed into eternity.

Paul & Silas in Prison – Acts 16:16–34:- After being beaten and jailed unjustly, they chose to worship at midnight. Their chains didn’t define their condition—their glory did. God shook the prison, opened doors, and used their suffering to save a jailer and his family.
Their persecution triggered a glory quake.
Worship in pain reveals the maturity of glory within.

DAILY SPIRITUAL TASK
Reflect and write:
Have I ever experienced persecution, rejection, or loss because of my faith?
How did I respond—and how would I respond now?
Ask in prayer:
“Lord, if persecution comes, will I stand for You or shrink back?”
Declare aloud:
“I will not be ashamed of the gospel. I carry glory even when it costs me comfort.”

MEMORY VERSE
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you… Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” – Matthew 5:11–12 (NIV)

PRAYER POINTS
Father, give me the courage to walk through persecution with joy, not fear. Let me see Your glory, even in pressure. Strengthen my witness so others see Christ in me, especially when it costs.

Holy Spirit, help me love truth more than approval. If I must suffer for the Name, let it be with worship on my lips and Your power in my heart. Let Your glory overshadow every insult and hardship.
