BIBLE READING
Exodus 33:14:- “The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’”
Hebrews 4:9–11:- “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people ofGod… Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest…”
I welcome you to our lesson on Resting in the Glory.
We often equate glory with action—fire, power, motion, miracles. But glory also carries weight, stillness, and rest. The Hebrew word for glory (kabod) implies weightiness, but also settled presence.
To rest in the glory means:
You cease striving
You trust God’s timing and voice
You operate from overflow, not overwork
You carry peace into every environment.
💡Glory doesn’t just energize; it stabilizes.
Many believers burn out trying to “do” for God what only He can sustain through abiding rest. God is not calling you to burn out in ministry, motherhood, business, or leadership. He’s calling you to abide in His glory and move from rest (John 15:4–5).
Glory-filled rest:
Restores the soul
Anchors identity
Increases discernment
Keeps anxiety out and worship in
Sometimes, the most spiritual thing you can do is lay down, breathe deep, and remember: “The battle is the Lord’s.”
Biblical Examples
Moses in the Wilderness – Exodus 33:12–23:- After Israel sinned with the golden calf, Moses sought reassurance that God would still go with them. God didn’t offer a new plan—He offered His presence. Moses said, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not send us…” (v. 15). In response, God promised rest in His glory—not by removing the wilderness, but by being present in it.
Moses knew: true rest isn’t the absence of stress—it’s the presence of God.
Glory brings deep rest, even in uncertain environments.
Jesus Sleeping in the Storm – Mark 4:35–41:- While the disciples panicked during the storm, Jesus was sleeping on a cushion. He was resting in glory, unbothered by external chaos. His peace was not circumstantial; it was rooted in union with the Father. When He awoke, He simply said, “Peace, be still.” Glory calmed the storm—but rest was already present before the miracle.
Rest is a posture of faith, not passivity.
Jesus lived in such harmony with God’s glory that fear had no access.
DAILY SPIRITUAL TASK
Enter Into Rest
Set aside 15–20 minutes today to: Unplug completely.
Sit or lay still.
Listen to peaceful worship or be in complete silence.
Pray this simple breath prayer:
“Your presence gives me rest.”
Write down:
What is weighing on you right now?
Where are you over-functioning, overworking, or overthinking?
Declare aloud:
“I will no longer strive. I enter into the rest of His glory. I will live and lead from peace.”
MEMORY VERSE
“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” – Exodus 33:14 (NIV).
PRAYER POINTS
Father, thank You that Your glory is not just power—it is peace. I lay down the burdens I’ve carried in my own strength. I receive the rest that comes from abiding in You. In Jesus’ name.
Holy Spirit, teach me to rest, trust, and breathe in Your presence. Let anxiety, fear, and performance melt away. May I carry Your glory from a place of stillness and confidence in who You are. In Jesus’ name.
